Let's discuss favoriting tweets.

Does anyone here use the favorite tweets feature as a method to gain followers? At first I thought the feature was kind of useless but now I am not so sure. I am a twitter noob(sorry if this is a dumb discussion)

So recently my tweets have been Favorited by a particular user that is in my niche. I began to study them to see what they are doing differently and if I can improve my methods of gaining followers.

Their stats are as follows.
11.5k tweets.
1 following.
25.8k followers (that appear to be mostly real.)
70k favorites
They are auto tweeting every 15 minutes.

It is not a fake profile, it is a service. They have an app on the android store with at least 10,000 downloads but 20% of reviews are 3 star or below with 10% of them being 1 star. Mostly of claims of how buggy their app is.

I have my own app in the works and I am sure I make one even better than theirs.. Everything we have is the same and soon I plan to be in direct competition with them and I want to beat them. I am just curious about "favorites" right now. Currently I am following 200-300 a day with 2k followers and unfollowing 100 a day. I am taking breaks from following everytime my followers and following numbers start getting too close to each other. However this is not automated and this person is doing this completely automated. This person does not follow anyone so I assume that most of their followers are infact from their favorites.

By looking at their stats they are doing about 6-7 favorites every 15 minutes. They are auto favoriting certain hashtag keywords. This seems like quite a bit to me so I ask...

What are twitter limits for favoriting others tweets? Is it unlimited because that is alot of favorites in a short amount of time.
Who else uses the favoriting method to gain followers and does that work out well for you?
If you do use the favoriting method, how many favorites do you do per day and how many followers do you get on average per day?

Most of the advice I have received was to follow other people, but this appears to be a good idea. Couldn't I just do both at the same time to double my following ratio? Is there any cons to mass favoriting?

Mass following is becoming little saturated right now so maybe you're right using favoriting you can reach more followers (in fact real followers).
Haven't tried this yet cause I can't find stable tool that can do favoriting (there are some that do this but still looking to find good one).

As I know about limit you can do 3-5 favoriting in a hour.

Yeah i've seen it in action. But the best results are when you target desktop users rather than mobile. This is because it 'takes time' to load your profile and follow on a mobile, but on a desktop it almost invites the user to check out your profile and click follow.

Desktop: When you click someone's profile image a pop up box appears with information (header, bio and follow button).
Mobile: Redirects the user to your profile without a preview.

You need too favorite a tweet that very second its posted or as soon as its posted If you favorite it then everyone else will see it thats also favorited it at that very second which will increase your followers a little

This is interesting, I also thought that favourites were fairly useless. Thanks for the tip, i will give it a go.
