    Ok, I was picking up mail today and received a nice invitation to attend a swanky Italian dinner...I can't go, but it struck me that this event planner had forked out a lot of cash for a color, cardboard flyer, that hundreds of people were throwing in the trash.

    I realized this would be an easy lead...'oh, hi, I'm calling about the dinner...sorry I can't make it, but I run a boutique seo agency here in (city), and i wondered if you'd ever considered using other, more economical and measurable ad channels for key our events? I'd love to sit down and talk soon to see how we can get you lasting results...' Sell them local, or a website, hosting, seo, smm, etc. because they've already shown that they have an advertising budget.

    moral: it could be that the best leads are already in your mailbox...let them come to you.

    This holds true for flyers you get on the street as well, many of the businesses don't have sites or are clearly in need of certain services.
