So the main reason why it's desireable to purchase a domain name and host your WP blog yourself is so that google can't close your account. Meaning if you do some blackhat stuff with your blogger account or wordpress account, then google can just ban it whereas when you're hosting it and paying the domain, they can't touch it?

So then if I made a WP blog and hosted it myself with my own domain name, would I get away with heavily using scrapebox, PRStorm, and anything else you want to suggest by the way, to raise my rank and traffic?

They can stillnsandbox you, just not shut your blog down.

No. Google doesn't care where you're hosted. They'll still ban a privately hosted site if they so desire.

You get your own host because wordpress is locked down, you have very little control over a wordpress blog, and you aren't allowed to display ads on one.

You get your own domain name because it helps you rank for the keyword you're after, helps visitors remember your site, etc. And because it's kind of hard to be privately hosted *without* one.
