Legitimate FB page contest?

I'll be running a good contest that will most likely have the ability to go viral but getting word out is an issue since there are few fans initially.

Would you suggest using FB PPC until it takes off on its own or is there another method that may be cheaper.

(only looking for U.S. traffic right now - demo m/f 18-45)

I think if you have those demographics to target, a FB ad with your page will probably yield your best results.
