So I want to start a music download blog... As in I have 100's of GB's of music, all full albums and I get more and more daily. So I was wondering how much trouble could I get in If I made a blog with Reviews of the albums and a download link to download the album.

I would monetize this by using a payper download site and Adsense. Would I get slammed for this or what's the deal?

Yep, big big trouble. People get sued millions for downloading 10 songs, imagine being the supplier of them 10 songs.

I agree with smalltownboy. You would be in big trouble. I wouldn't do it.

Completely, totally, fully illegal. Copyright lawsuit.

You won't be able to do it with adsense, but you could do offshore hosting and you could do it.... I know Ukraine for a fact is a good place to do it (demonoid is hosted there)....

How to monitize it.... that you will have to figure out. (maybe iframe email submit...?)

Also, most payperdownload websites deleted illegal files.... so no $$ there

Oh god bro...the music industry is not the people u wanna mess with right now..since downloading is something there pissed about universal lawyers are not the people u wanna be messing with.

That would be like signing yourself right into the pokey! I've read storie where kids were downloading off the iternet, parents didnt know - kids thought it was okay and the music companies sued the parents... there are hundreds of stories out there - search google, I am sure you will find them.

Or.....

You could do your review site, work the SEO really really hard. And have the download links go to Amazon. Which would set your affiliate cookie as well as gen sales on the music you reviewed. Plenty of ways to drive traffic and you wouldn't take the unnecessary risk of what the music people would do to you.

I have been caught with a few mobile phone games on my server a few years ago which I did not even upload myself. I was lucky to get away with them gently raping me in the ass. They were going to do me for $120.000 or so.

Its doable but you'll most definitely get a cease and desist if your site gains any popularity. All the good music blogs were hosted on Blogger and didn't get shut down until last year. There are tons more out there still going. Just search g00gle blog search for album name/title and do some digging.

If you were going to do it just make them fill out some offer before they can get the rapidshare/mediafire/whatever link. Don't host the site or files on your own server and don't charge people. I've never heard of anyone being prosecuted or sued for sending someone to a rapidshare link.

With that said I still wouldn't do it.

It depends where you live. If you live in the USA, Canada or Australia, or the UK don't do it. If you live in other countries, it depends on which country.

there's heaps of club promoters that do it as a way to promote their favorite artists and the artists that play at their events... they have a disclaimer that states it's for artist promotion only etc...

i'm in australia and still partying hard lol - and there are many blogs like this worldwide so not sure about the mixed messages i've read above

Adsense = Dont like warez site

Problems:

1. You need a host, I guess, you may use RS, or get an offshore server (offshore = More problems + Cost)
2. Getting traffic will NOT be easy
3. If you get traffic, then again it will be problem, because you will get famous and more chances of getting sued.
4. Deadline = I dont think anything will happen against you if you clear of tracks and doesnt expose your real identity, but running such a site involves HUGE RISK!

Shawn = DP OWNER = Got sued for downloading a motion movie from Torrent....(read more about this case of Wikipedia, Search google Shawn sued motion movie)

theres always a way to do anything... or else nothing would get done.... just gotta think about 1 thing though.... do you really got em that big? if ur in here asking how bad can i get screwed then i wouldnt even do it that right there should tell u u couldnt pull it off.. answered ur own question.

Purely For Educational Purposes .
Quite a good initiative ,do able .
Use off shore hosting ,multiple money drop boxes (to get your ad revenue) ,chain proxies ,domain by proxy purchase .

Stay safe .

Lets say you get it running etc... how you going to monetize it to make it worth the risk?

What may work would be a massive membership site.
