Legality of stealing a model’s pictures?

If i were to download a bunch of pictures of a girl on Instagram and reupload them under a fake name, could I get in legal trouble? Obviously I see the ethical issues, and i’d stop if the girl reached out to me, but is there any way I could face immediate legal trouble?

That would most likely fall under identity theft. Buy only if the model would try sue you.
Cover your tracks and you'll be fine. The chances of you getting in serious trouble because of that is extremely thin.
The highest risk in my opinion would be instagram deleting your account.

It depends on how well you get to hide the account from the person who really holds the identity. You could get in serious trouble once she finds out.

Likely noone is coming after you unless you are portraying them in bad picture. Even then chances are less that you would get caught unless you are actually going for extremely illegal
