Hey guys. I recently made a German affiliate site and I saw Impressum is very important for German sites. I don't live in Europe, I just made the site because I wanted to rank a low competition keyword there. Do I have to give my real information on impressum or can I put fake details?

For who exactly do you want to create that impressum?
I know some affiliate networks over there don't accept your website when you don't have an Impressum.

If you want to be accepted by the network, maybe make sure to make these addresses match...

For any other reasons... If you live outside Germany / EU probably nobody is gonna chase you if you use fake info... ;-)

A cleaning company of a friend in Germany was billed 500 euros for not putting impressum page so they have a way to know where the person is located I guess.

ah really?!!
I see... I read here:
The point can be made that if you simply have a personal blog without ads and make no money from it, then the Impressum is not required.

If you really want to do this official ... you need an impressum page...
I you're just an affiliate from outside of germany, probably the chance will be low that they will come and chase you...
I guess if you put fake info, they might only want to check or contact you if there are any complaints about your domain...

Have had 1000s automated german sites without any problem... I use fake registration info and when the registry starts complaining, I just delete these sites...

I think the impressium page only is needed if you offer a service or sell anything directly

Thanks a lot :)

§ 5 TMG, all "online services provided in the framework of a business activity" require the posting of an imprint. In the case of TMG, it is therefore important whether the content, goods or services on the site are usually offered for a fee. Therefore, this applies primarily to any website operators who offer products (online stores) or services (hosting, software rental) on them.
