Hey guys (and gals), I have been around the forums for a while and with a moderate amount of success on the affiliate marketing side of things doing CPA but have had some (to me) really good ideas lately of websites I would like to build.

With that said, can anyone point me in the direction of some good guides for web design/HTML so I can get started?

Just want to be clear guys (...and gals), I do not want to be spoon fed anything, I just want to learn to design websites myself and wondering what guides offer the best insight on how to do so and if there are any words of advice you'd offer to someone just getting started in designing.

:D thanks ahead of time for any help.

Couldn't have asked for a better first response. Will download and begin my journey when I wake up.

I greatly appreciate it, oh and I already have the Adobe suite so hopefully I can put Dreamweaver to some use now.

Follow a web design tutorial on building a website. This way you can 'jumpstart' your web design creation.

try visiting nettuts site (I cannot post links yet).

 hope that help a bit.

    w3schools for html/css
    tizag for php and mysql
    nettuts for projects

All those for learning basics. For advanced:
    php.net for php
    mysql.net for mysql
stackoverflow for generally advanced tips, trick and advice.

On the design side of things, 'learning' good design is not a simple thing. At first you'll be creating absolutely horrible designs, but after awhile you'll learn what works and what doesnt. I would suggest boagworld, vandelaydesign, and other designer blogs. They usually point out the good and bad, and have alot of inspiring websites to go along with it.

    Here:

    Code:
    http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/tutorials/complete-websites/building-a-website-in-progressive-steps-blog-page/
I would suggest that you begin with HTML and CSS, then Photoshop and maybe a little bit of javascript or jquery, php mysql, or wordpress maybe..
