I remember seeing a post about how to learn hacking ground up. The post included many links and books to download, I just can't find it any more. Can someone tell me where to find it? Thanks.

to be honest, covering the subject in a wiki, book, video, forum, what not is difficult considering how broad the subject is. To understand hacking is to understand software programming and being able to pinpoint flaws in a program. Some are age old tricks which work even with todays' software, and some are new. One place to start would be a site like security*focus.c0m which documents exploits daily, including giving away the technique or source code on how the exploit is implemented. By the time its documented however, there's likely already patches in the works or being released to fix it, so it's a game of beating the clock, or targeting lazy admins :)

Yeah, I am targeting lazy admins, so I can prove that they need to patch. I have been following the site you recommended, but didn't realize that they give away exploit code. Anyway, this link I saw before had an extensive recommendation of things you need to know and books you can read to achieve the goals. It was put on top by someone in one of the lists, and it was easy to find. I will start with some books I have already. Thanks!
