Ignore all the hooplah out there from fake gurus and what not. Running an e-commerce business at scale is no different from running a traditional offline business at scale. It's difficult, takes a long time and has a fairly steep learning curve.
The payoffs though, are huge. Significantly more than most other fields in the tech space.
Id recommend anyone with an ounce of business sense to dive into ecom. Incredibly lucrative when done correctly.
The question though shouldn't be, should I get into e-com, it should be, what do I want to sell? E-com is no silver bullet, the business itself has to be solid. Just being on the internet does not create default success. As is the case with traditional business's, more fail than succeed.
The interesting thing about ecom though is, once you've got your process's down, it's simple to replicate across a variety of industries.
