Learn Java for Free... Thank You Stanford University!

So about a year or so ago I was trying to get into learning some programming, it might have been 18 months or so actually, but what's that matter anyway. I was looking at a number of things and finally decided on either C# or Java. Well after a little digging around I came across something that was really amazing. I wasn't able to take full advantage of it as other things kept pulling me away until finally I just had to shelf it until later. I saw a thread about C# and Java though and it reminded me of it, and I figured why not share it here in case someone else does have time. Basically it's a collection of courses from Stanford University. Yes, that Stanford, and NO, it doesn't cost anything. http://see.stanford.edu/ is the official site for Stanford Engineering Everywhere (SEE).

Stanford Engineering Everywhere (SEE) expands the Stanford experience to students and educators online. A computer and an Internet connection are all you need. Like I said, I wasn't able to fully take advantage of this because of other things requiring my time, but I'd recommend it to anyone that was considering learning. To say I was amazed at what they're offering would be a terrible understatement. The only thing that's missing is the bill, literally. It's not just for beginners either, there's an iPhone application programming course, there's even courses inA.I. (artificial intelligence). Edit: Just in case you're wondering, you don't even need to sign up for anything. Everything is available to download in a .zip file that you can then watch/go through at your own convenience.

Sweet, no problem guys. I'm glad you're liking it. I started on the intro to computer science courses before. I actually had watched and worked my way through about 8 or 10 lectures/classes before I started to drift away. It was really good I thought though, and I remember feeling like I was really actually onto something as far as learning to program. Being able to watch the actual class lectures and hear the teacher/instructor explain things I think is so helpful. It made it so much easier to follow along, and the beauty of it is you can pause and go back and stuff. Just seemed like a really thorough and easy way to learn. I'm definitely going to go back to it soon when I have more time.

Funny you should say that, I actually looked it up back then and I believe it was around $13,000 (USD) per quarter. I forget exactly how many hours that included, probably 12-15ish but yeah, crazy expensive. I actually was laughing with a friend of mine saying how do you think those kids that paid full tuition feel seeing that the course is online for free. Lol.
