    Hello,

I know this is a stupid question that is asked too much. And even though I'm pretending that I really don't know I am going against my common sense to ask this question. Because it took me a full year to create my website, and I luanched it last February and I only have at this very moment 8 people on the site is why I will ask this question.

Just give it to me as simple as possible (giving links to other topics also works) what can I do to make my site larger. I've used so many backlinks but nothing has worked. Please someone just show me a way, because I've lost all my hope in this website that took so very long to make.

Btw I know about posting videos on video websites, and backlinks (articles). However those don't help.

why not post a link to your site? - maybe the problem would be simple to solve if someone could see your site? But without knowing what your site is, what it looks like, what the topic is, what type of site it is (blog, mns, membership, portal, ???) - Really - what kind of advice can you hope to get?!

okay i got the site link, i must say first off this site is nice. like I dont like anime at all, nor care for those sites. But this one is the best one i seen, as far as layout. You did a great job.

have you tried a yahoo answer's reply bot. I use to have a movie site. The first thing i did was this. YOu DONT get 100 visitors right away, but if you do it for like a month. You'll get users for over a year. While your doing that, make the site its own myspace. Find anime related groups on myspace. join them. add to your friends list all the users on those groups. Send them hi how are you doing. I see you like anime please tell me what you think about the site my profile is made of. ANyways get back to me, things like that....

    thats a start.

Install a tell a friend script...

I agree, your site looks great - there are a few minor things I'd tweak, but very nice looking!

When you say you have 8 people on your site - are you refering to "real registered members" or currently active visitors?

One thing that I notice is that there is no reason to register - you can view all of the videos without registering - so why would someone bother to register?

You will probably get some better organic traffic if you put in long descriptions for the videos (at least the most popular ones).

For this type of site - contests & awards work well - so make up something, like a new ipod to the first person who uploads 1k videos, or a dvd for 100 high-quality comments.
Then spread the news of your contest in related forums and sites.

I would also make a news feed with info about each new video uploaded - the problem with video sites is that lack of text can make them hard to rank.

You have lots of backlinks? No - you have ~525 backlinks...
You are in a competitive niche - get 10k backlinks (of decent quality)

Try to get listed in DMOZ and Yahoo Directories and try to get at least 20 .edu backlinks

Ok - things to fix in your site:
Get rid of all the "your link here" ads - it makes your site look unused - put up affiliate links if you can't sell the ad space.
The 120x160 text ad looks terrible in that huge vertical space that looks like it should be a skyscraper ad.
The Chat doesn't work in Chrome.
To be honest - the chat going on your site wasn't related to your site and was really stupid.
The "New Updates Announcements" stretches to the height of the site in IE7/Vista - which makes it look like the site has nothing but a big blank page, until you scroll down below the fold. -> this really needs to be fixed!

Try one of those browser check sites (like this one):
    Code:
    http://browsershots.org/
    - to see what your site looks like in other browsers

So, I would say mostly you kind of need to keep promoting - links from related forums would probably get you some better quality traffic, or look around this forum for some sneakier ideas - but I'd say you'd be wrong to give up hope on this site at this point - it looks ready to go, just needs some promotional love.

    good luck!

Wow I have to say, thank you guys for all your help and advice. Also I meant there was 8 active users at the moment (there's 368 registered members). Also when you a member is when you get the most fun. You can login there with this information:

    username:demo
    password:demo

Also the 10k backlinks is what I was shocked to see lol. And also pretty bumbed out about how many issues there was on other browsers (that's going to take a while to fix ). So thank you guys for your help :)

P.S. I was going to release an all new and much improved version of the site. Something that I thought was going to dominate all the anime websites, but since I see that this one isn't getting anywhere I decided not to release my version 4.0.

Oh btw wizard I've been using Yahoo links, anything you really see on here: http://websearch.about.com/od/bestwebsites/tp/freebookmarks.htm myspace, twitter for like week but thats all. Also there was a large Back link topic on this forum a bit ago. I basically used all of the links it gave me.

I got the 10k links from the amount of links your major competitors have - you want to try to catch up with them...
Get the Market Samurai trial and have a look at your competitors, and what you would have to do to catch up with them - it is do-able and 10k links isn't impossible, just keep building them up.

As for how much fun it is to be a registered user, well, you can tell me that here - but - you need to find a way to let visitors to your site know that!
Make it very prominent on your front page:

    Register Here!
These are the benefits to being registered:
    1, 2, 3, blah, blah, blah
    so register NOW!

that will probably get you lots more registered visitors with just the traffic you already have
