Law Against Trolling on the Internet

^ Yep, that's what I was talking about

Sounds to me like some politician got trolled.

This will end up in court with the rest of Arizona's nonsense ramblings. It's starting to get kinda funny really...

Of all the states in America... Arizona is the halfwit redneck racist step child who gets super pissed when you troll them.

The guy being in jail for a racist comment seems fair to me. If in real life u can go to jail for that, online - where your voice can be heardby way more people, which his tweet was - should suffer the consequences imho.

What I foresee happening is someone having a real bad experience somewhere, saying that the "food was shit" and boom, jail...

Or someone posting a funny trolling comment and going to jail, that would be fucked up

I have never heard of anybody being jailed for racist comments.

You can go to jail for terrorist threats.. ie, I'm going to {kill you|burn your house down|rape your facehole}.

But not for racist comments.

The guy that wrote that is a class1 a hole

He's a low-life motherfucker, and I have the video to prove it. His mom sent it to me, and wanted to know if I could do better. I had to tell her that she was so fat and ugly, I was surprised that someone had the ability to achieve and maintain an erection long enough to get her pregnant, and while I thought that having a sexual relationship with your own son was disgusting, there was a good chance that columnist was similarly dysfunctional and so they were a match.

Oh. And.

If you don't like the way I exercise my 1st Amendment right to make "racist comments", you'll like the way I exercise my 2nd Amendment right to defend that right even less. Treyvon had an overinflated sense of his ability to make people do what he wanted, in case you want and example of what I'm talking about.

I didn't realize that saying racist things offline could get a person put in jail over there (until seeing that). From when I looked it up it seemed that it was only illegal on the TV (due to BBC being funded the way it is) or if it was used to incite violence or if it had to do with employment. In the US it isn't illegal to say racist things anyway (yet). Not that legality makes anything right. In my opinion though, people should not have to fear jail time for saying anything. An ass kicking perhaps, but not legal crackdown.

That's interesting and I didn't know that. I've always thought that people who live in EU countries are a little more tolerant to this kind of stuff. There's what, like 500,000 cameras in the UK?

No one actually knows exactly how many cameras there are here but they say there is more here than in the whole of China. Anywhere you are not in a residential area you are probably on CCTV. There is a small shopping area down the road and the whole place is covered by them, and its not even a dangerous area. I read a story a couple of years ago and they actually tried to rig a guys house up with them so they could see what time he was sending his kids to bed. They also were experimenting with these ones that could even hear peoples conversations.

It depends on the type of racist rants, and if your intent is to incite violence.

I think they're taking things a bit too far...

this is Britain, but being an american i believe in freedom of speech although i think there should be some rare restrictions like yelling fire in a theater, or something like that that puts other lives in danger. this is a bad precedent it opens the door to shutting down other kinds of speech.

This is the law in a bunch of EU countries - especially the UK.

There is a very strong privacy law in most places, your internet provider is not alowed to give out your info, this is why torrenting is still kinda legal. My mate runs a number of fake twitter accounts (politicans etc) for years and the cunts can get him,his story was even in the news some years ago :)

Well, since I live in Arizona looks like my days of trolling the Internet are over

What do you guys think?
House Bill 2549 is currently sitting on Governor Jan Brewer?s desk, awaiting approval.

This is absolutely not true. The bill has been stopped right now due to its lack of one on one communication implementation.

This doe not mean it i the end of it however. They do plan on revamping it for submission. Rep Vic Williams said "he's very receptive to the input that doesn't involve chemtrails and Orwellian conspiracy theories, and we'll update you with whatever the legislators decide to do with the bill." and as any opposing view will probably be "tin hat" to him, there will never be any progress. If you mention the 1st or 4th amendment to this nut, you are a conspiracy theorist.

plus as Brewer shot down HB 2757 they do not have much hope even if they get it to the gov desk.

It is gladly doomed for now.

And so it continues..

The flood gates have been opened for everyone to start reporting each other over any offensive comment at all in an attempt to get each other jailed.

Well done, Judge. Well done. *clap*

LOL, imagine if we reach the point where everyone puts everyone else in jail, and the punishment for a misdemeanor is to be kicked out into the wilderness that is planet Earth if that were to happen. :D

The unfortunate thing about all this is that it WILL bring the real racists out the woodwork. Right now they'll be sitting planning revenge for what they'll consider the jailing of "one of their own", which means because of this stupid law some poor black kid's probably going to get beaten up or worse. :(

This is what happens when you attack hate with hate. You create more hate. It boggles my mind that so many in power don't see this. If people had ignored this kid, like the many 100's of thousands of haters around the world right now trying to get reactions with their hate, then nothing more would come of it.

The judge who convicted has now given the racist message huge power and allowed it to spread like a virus, and the original comments were just the ramblings of some stupid drunk kid who had no agenda.

What do you think will happen if some black kid does get seriously attacked in retaliation and it's on the news?

You'll then have a bunch of black guys get charged up and go out looking for revenge..

It doesn't end. Can people not learn from the 1000's of years of war/hatred in israel? *sigh*

Luckily I don't live in AZ. so I can say fuck the gov'mnt

At some point, citizens will see the majority of US laws as oppressive and we will lose the confidence in the government.

What has happened to liberty?

We can't put certain substances in our own bodies because big brother will punish us for it. It's for our own good - right?

We can't say certain things or have certain views because it is consider dangerous, unproductive, or unpatriotic - for our own good again - right?

We can't fly from point A to point B without being considered potentially dangerous, patted down, and thoroughly searched because we might be an anti-American terrorist - but it's for our own good - right?

We elect people who waste billions of dollars, put us, our children, and our children's children in debt. And we still trust them? - they must be working for the greater good - right?

We wage wars. It costs us our friends and family's lives. It puts us all deeper in debt. And best of all, we let our politicians tell us when it will end. But it's for our own good - right?

Welcome to the United States.

The best thing to do if you want the Internet free is to do favors for elected officials and create a lobbying group. As long as anonymous is going to keep ddos'ing websites and making threats, instead of creating a lobbying group. The more the internet is going to be less free.
