Launching a product (eBook) - any tips?

I'm releasing a product in the next couple of weeks, and I'm wondering what I might use as 'list bait', as I would like to sell the product and build up a double opt-in list. Videos, related PLR products, what works? Also - should I even try to have a sales page and an opt-in on the same page?

Any general advice is appreciated, but please don't ask about the product. It hasn't yet been submitted to or approved by the admins, and I'm actually more interested in doing this to get experience launching an ebook rather than trying to make a few bucks off of it (but I will be charging for it).

I would definitely go this route (works for me currently):

-Pre-launch Minisite landing page with a video of yourself/your voice narrating talking about the product, the method, etc.. whatever your doing, have a few paragraphs, bullet points of content, keep it short, sweet and inviting. This will immediately increase the level of trust and credibility - and video really does help with that first opt-in.

-On that first landing page, have a free "report" for the potential buyer to get an "exclusive" sneak peak to your product. Make sure this report tells them the goods, but leaves them hanging at the same time - and mention the report and optin right at the end of the video, even pointing to where your opt in form will be located as per the video embed.

-write 5-10 emails for this first list, building up the release date and all the hype that you're product has been getting, throwing a few more freebies to them because they are "insiders" and have opted in - make them feel fucking special.

-when you're ready, announce the launch to that first list and let them go nuts! Then give them all kinds of incentive to promote the launch and it's "limited" availability.

-I wouldn't have an opt-in on the sales page itself, but load it with some kick ass PLR, or membership options, and after you have launched just update the first mini site opt in to reflect that the product has launched and is causing mayhem online, and still include the free "insider" sneak peak, sending them a different series of emails, maybe 3 or 4 - talking about how great the product is doing, and how people are buying hookers by the bundle with all the cash they're making.

are you selling it people in here or some other forums or maybe clickbank / alternatives ?

for CB/alt opt in box at frontpage would be good since not so many people buy at first time, but for forums and such id say after purchase, since they have allready paid why not subcribe

Apart from making an attractive website, it's better you join some Internet marketing, joint venture and affiliate network sites where you can announce your product to hungry affiliates who will die to promote your product.
