Just launch new website on Sunday and on the first for many of my keywords. I have been doing SEO since 2001, from what I see the only different from today and 2001 is the copying of content, keyword and link spamming.. If you design your website with the right structure and proper content, you are on the right path! Have anyone else notice the same thing?? I also do link building the correct way!!

Did you use Black hat or white hat techniques?

from what I have seen, black hat will get you to the top quick, but you need to expect a sandboxed site... if you do white hat you take a longer the to rank but you end up with a solid Seo base

Give it some time bro... New sites are pushed on top for few days and then suddenly they drop down.. You should have known that if you really do SEO since 2001

Otherwise.. yes.. SEO is probably same like good old days, just a bit more complicated in certain parts, but again there is workaround for everything..

Not if you optimize the right way and provide fresh content to your blog 3 to 4 times a week.. Also, I have a collections of blogs that' 4 to 5 years old... Wink Wink!!!!

I noticed this I recently just launched my site and it ranked pretty well on some of the keywords, and the news articles I pump out get indexed almost instantly and rank pretty well for their keywords

Playing just white hat can be just as dangerous as overly spamming a site. I think the big thing to realize that a site is not something that you are married to, but rather something that can be duplicated should your site end up deindexed, overly penalized, etc. I know that once I started being less attached to my websites, I have tended to be more aggressive with marketing, and that has certainly paid off.
