I am translating my site into Spanish and have pleased with the traffic I have been getting. Most of my revenue comes from Adsense ads. However, I have noticed that my revenue from all the hispanic countries (Spain, Mexico, Venzuela, Columbia, etc.) is terrible. Obviously, Google does not have a good presence yet in these countries or something.

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas for affiliate programs or something that will make money in the latino market.

    Help...

There has got to be something better than Adsense. I am getting way less than a dollar CPM in even the best countries.

That went right over my head. My wife is hispanic and I know a lot of Spanish, but I didn't get that one - sorry!

And, yes, I am sure. And I am in a pretty profitable niche, so it just does not make sense. I need some kind of decent CPA or affiliate program probably.

Google (the search engine and its ad network) has a huge presence, both in Spain and in Latin America. Its market share is probably larger in the spanish speaking countries than it is in the (english speaking) USA. Adsense is, by far, the best contextual ads network in spanish. The problem is not Google, the problem are the advertisers.

There are way less advertisers in spanish than there are in english, and that means they have to pay way less to fill the same spots that you find in any language SERPs. And the reason there are less advertisers in the adsense network is there are less people buying online in the spanish speaking world. Just that simple. Until just four or five years ago online shopping in Spain was almost residual, and today you still find some people reluctant to use his credit card over the Internet. And that's even worse in Latin America, were a big chunk of the population just DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD. This is what explains your comparatively worse results.

Of course there is a good side to this story. As I am sure you've already discovered, competition is less fierce in spanish than it is in english. It is much easier to rank for any keywords in spanish than it is in english. Provided you have somebody who can speak/write properly in spanish (native level) you can try and rank for things that would probably be out of your league in english.

But, to be totally honest and fair with you, I personally started using adsense in spanish (that's how I discovered what I just wrote) and when I was able to rank for some competitive terms I switched to english just to give it a try and I discovered that it pays a lot to have stronger competition but also better paying clicks. At least if you can outrank people in some medium-competition niches.

Good luck with your endeavor in spanish, I'm not saying it's not worth it, I am making very good money every month with adsense in spanish, but you have to know what you'll find. Almost half of the market is Spain alone (45 million people) and the other 50% is Latin America (350 million people). If you just look at the numbers (400+ million people) you get excited, but then the reality is something else.

I hope my personal experience is of any use for you. As I said, go for it and good luck.
