Hi all! Just wished to ask this thing for so long. It's 2021, is SEO still all about link building for a better ranking, or is there something more that does affect one's ranking?

if you target keywords with no competition (usually keywords with 0-3 KD in Ahrefs) you don't need backlinks. For everything else you need backlinks until your site becomes authoritative enough to rank on its authority alone

I guess this subsequent growth and ranking for high KD keywords is what all about E-A-T?

The current "trend" appears to revolve around core web vitals.

But as always, get the basic content, link building and site structure right, and you're golden.

The biggest trend I've noticed is there are more spam/hacked domains in Google search results than ever before. Using FAQ schema seems to be getting really popular, many sites are orienting their content to be in FAQ formats to take advantage of the schema.

Are you well acquainted with the basics first instead of worrying about the trends?

I agree, I was just about write the same

Its the focusing on FAQ questions and including voice format of the article(which is going to be even hotter moving forward), Google simply wants the visitor to stop at a single page to get all the answers, (in depth)

SEO is organic so bringing new trends or adding AI makes it less organic. It STILL INVOLVES Link building, quality long optimized contents, keyword research and so on.

Yes, it is, links are the most important factor and they do the work pretty well,
ofc, you'll have to set a proper on-page/content, but it's something that everyone can easily make it up today, so the competition is off-page mostly

One of the top SEO trends of 2021 is to include video content in your strategy. As per 83% of businesses believe that video gives them a good ROI.
Video marketing has the power to make your customers stay tuned with the content it displays. The best video content includes a storyline of the incidence and situations that can be linked to your audience.
