Large amount of backlinks from 1 site

My website link has been added to someones blog sidebar, i noticed on my ahrefs dashboard a sudden jump of 80 backlinks (sidebar is on every page).

The blog is a wide ranging niche, with some relevent niche pages. Not super high DR but its not spammy. Just seem like they link out to a few sites in their sidebar.

My site is still new so was limiting the amount of links.

Is this okay SEO and in googles eyes?

if that guy added your link out of his own will then yes, google is 100% OK with it...

if he added it because you told him, or you paid him to add it then google is not OK with it but if it gives you SEO benefit without google figuring it out then you are OK with it. And if this link gets you traffic it's even better...

Okay great - Nothing for me to be concerned about then. I just got a little worried after reading a few people on here say you only want a few links a week when you are starting a new site

I am one of those who say that new sites should get few links a week, yes, but this is out of your control. And the site doesn't look spammy anyway, so it's fine! Just keep publishing more content and if more organic links will come, great! The more the merrier

Depending on the quality of the blog that added your site to its sidebar, you might want to disavow those links.

Why?

If there is no niche specificity or it looks totally random, it might not be a good fit as far as your backlink network goes.

Remember, you're looking to attract links from websites that are in the same niche as you.

Also, you're looking for a natural link footprint.
