for anyone who like me uses the laptop in bed at night ( or on any soft surface ), when put on the comforter/duvet they tend to overheat really quickly , ive found out by placing a slightly filled hot water bottle ( one of the old fashioned rubber kind ) under it , filled to the quater way mark with cold water its acts as a cooler for the bottom of the machine.. taa daa.....lol...not sure how useful this might be for anyone but its been a revelation for me! :p ( obviously make sure youve got it done up tighly! )

Heh, interesting way to solve the problem... I think a bed tray table might be a bit more convenient tho, no? :p

I don't use a laptop in the bed myself, but I think these days there's actually bed trays made with laptops in mind.

Water/Laptops not a good mix if you ask me when a laptop cooler will cost you
less than $5.

haha i expect youre probabaly right ref water and electric :o but my main machine is built for gaming and has a water cooler built in because of the overclocking , and i do have a laptop tray too but im just buzzed at how much cooler the bottom of the lappy is this way lol..

I had an Acer Aspire. You could cook an egg on that furnace even with a laptop cooler underneath.

Now that i dumped that shit i have a Lenovo and it's cold and quiet as never:)
Plus I don't even turn it off and it's sitting on my bed without a cooler 24/7.

Oh the feeling:)

I have a 5 fan notebook cooler pad that locks my laptop into it and keeps it cool like ice

Nice tip OP, I do all of my work from my couch with my laptop offset to the side on a tv tray. I just prop up the back of the laptop so the underside can breathe and it works out really well. The thing is on 24/7 pretty much 7 days a week (Toshiba Sattelite) and it stays nice and cool this way.
