I am using both desk and laptop. The usage depends on the demand of the work.

general work/www stuff, laptop or tablet is fine. can plug into big screen for real estate
CPU/Ram intensive automation software--beefy desktop
get both and control from RDP

I am using Desktop Computer. I do Graphic Designing and Video Editing. It depends on the demand of work or what you do. Hope it's clear.

I have a cheap 8gb ram and standard CPU laptop (good for normal stuff chrome etc..) + a powerful desktop computer for rendering and gaming

Laptop for portability, and compact stuff. For something rugged and durable, desktop all the way, so, I use both depending on my location.

Desktop for the config but also laptop because of the portability it's just that the charger needs to be plugged everytime unless there is a laptop that provides good backup
