I would certainly avoid Dell, HPs can be somewhat overpriced based on the specs you can get from them but tend to be reliable. I've had a few Lenovos as you can get a good pricing/spec performance from them but in my experience they all had short battery life issues and mostly had to be plugged in all the time. My recent purchase was a mid-range Asus laptop and im more than happy with it in all aspects of specs, price, screen and battery life, so my vote goes to them.

I have a lenovo and my brother has HP. By far we are using them from the past 3 years and no problem. We don't do heavy stuff on them btw.

I've had a laptop from all of these and Lenovos have seen to be quite reliable compared to dells and HPs.

Try to get a used corporate ThinkPad if you are looking for something cheap and reliable. I've bee using one since the last 3 years and these things are strong af.

@CounterMind yes Lenovos suck with their batteries but they are cheap and easily replaceable (atleast for the thinkpads) so that's a plus.

My recommendation is a Dell laptop, as I have been using it for a decade. It gives you good value for your money.

How many people have reported no battery issues with Asus?

Doesn't all batteries start dying after 3 - 4 years of daily usage?

I'm a lenovo user but if Asus is better, I will happily change over to it in my next purchase.

My Lenovo T520 Thinkpad mule is still working fine after 10 years. One batery change and added SSD. Fell multiple times on the floor, spiled water, cafe... still working.

Now I got Thinkpad Carbon X1. You can not get anything better in the Windows world

I have a HP but I really don't favor it over anything else.
