here is the situation. I have a client who has multiple locations 30+ and wants to rank locally and organically in each market. They want the site to be eCommerce.

would it be easier to rank if I build 1 website with landing pages for each location and have unique content on that one page. the domain will not include the city but be in the URL will.
the products will be no index due to prices being so different in each location.

or build 1 website for each location and have unique content targeting multiple keywords on the website. the domain will included the city.

now clearly work wise the multiple domains is much more work. but ranking wise, I would assume the single domains would be better? or should I just build the 1 site and make some great landing pages?

hope that makes sense and I explained everything.

also I have a High PR Private network of sites that I will be using to push links to either the landing page or domains.

    any help would be appreciated.

Oh my...never seen duckduckgo.com. Seems like a quaint little search engine. Do you think anyone is using it at all? Is it your own search engine for example?

duckduckgo is cool. its the default search engine with the Iron browser.

regarding your question OP, both creating and ranking the sites will be easier if its based off 1 site on 1 domain.
building links to 30 different domains compared to 1 domain will obviously result in having 1 domain a strong backlink profile.
optimize your "landing pages" (i wouldn't call them that to be honest) as much as you can for your keywords, dont over optimize and beware of duplicate content.

    good luck

One large site is always better. When in doubt go with content. Fill that thing to the brim with unique content for all locations.

DDG doesn't track you like Google or others do - good for the privacy conscious.

Results are not bad, but sometimes need to refer to G or Bing for more obscure things.

As far as your question is concerned, go with 1 website with separate landing pages for each city. Be sure to add unique content to each landing page as well. This is how one of my former clients had their site set up and it worked well for them.
