I have NO skills at setting up landing pages!!!! There, I said it. I use my domains as redirects or I just direct link to an offer. Now, what I was wondering was how many people think this is a good idea, or am I missing out on potential leads? In my mind, using a landing page means one more "click" for a potential lead vs the offer being right in their face. I know a lot of you will say that I need a landing page for BH methods, but I use all my BH methods on marketing, not iFrames, cookie stuffing, etc. So chat away and tell me what you people think. I truly am intrested. I think I could probably learn a thing or two. BTW, I do have "mild" success as a CPA'er using my method.

EDIT: Some people might be wondering about direct linking. With all 3 CPA companies that I belong to, I told them during "the call" that I would probably just direct link to all the offers and all 3 were cool with that.

I exclusively use landing pages.

Yes, it is one more click, but I am a big proponent of "scrubbing" my leads. Thus, no network knows where my traffic originates.

If you run everything through a landing page you have less click-throughs but more "cover".

Further, this opens options for cookie stuffing, etc.

Lastly, consider using the graphics from the sales page as part of your landing page. This seems to work for me and doesn't require my becoming a graphic artist.

Also, if you direct link to the offer, promoting from youtube, the company will know... direct linking is fine if you have a banner on a blog, where banner promotion is acepted, but direct linking from article directories and social networks when is not allowed...

Also with landing pages you can embellish the truth and persuade the user to signing up to the next offers, works great with email submit that convert on first page.

Creating a good landing page is such a hard thing to do, especially for bad liars like me...no joke, I'm terrible.

No skills needed (as long as you know WP). Borrow graphics from vandor, and go work... Watch the video (with eBay graphics) on this page. h**ttp://www.wordpressppc.com/ (remove **)

You should be able to get the theme here on the forums.

not really. you can have the most beautiful landing page (in WP or otherwise) but if the body copy is not powerful enough to compel the visitor to take action, then it is just a pretty landing page, but not a converting landing page

both the design and copywriting are important, but the copy is more important

so some skills are needed, the skills of writing good copy. there are a few good ebooks here at bhw if you do a search

well, i guess the skills are NOT really needed if you just want to get by, but if you want really good converting pages then they are needed. it could be the key factor if you just break even or if you make a profit

@gtss - why can't you borrow the text (more or less) from the vendor too?

There are sometimes I cant get a conversion no matter how good my landing page or copy is, but if I simply i-frame the domain I convert all day long.

you can copy, of course, but you wouldnt really want to copy it if you are sending to your landing page first and then to the cpa landing page that contains the same exact text.the visitor will most likely not read it all again, and they get to page 2 they'll see all the same text and most likely just leave.

you really dont need a whole lot of copy on the first page, let the second page do the selling. You just wanna do a pre-sell with very strong copy to get them in an emotional state to want to buy some kind of solution, then let the advertisers page do the final selling

You aren't getting high in the SERPs with no content and just an iframe...don't try to get around that.

Obviously you would not get serp rankings with no content and an iframe. I am not worried about serps, this is for ppc like facebook.

We suspect many marketers truly believe that if their outbound campaign is
good enough, the creative will pre-sell prospects on the offer, so they'll
convert no matter how lame the landing page is.

In other words, many marketers think the outbound campaign is doing the
heavy lifting and the landing page exists simply as a passive collection cup
for all the sales or leads generated by the campaign.

In fact, the exact opposite is generally true.

The only thing the outbound campaign did was get a prospect to click or
type the URL into their browser.

That's a microscopically unimportant decision compared to whatever the
landing page asks them to do.

Your ad convinced them to click. It's a split-second, what-the-heck,
decision.

Your landing page has to convince them to stick around for at least a
minute or two and possibly do a bunch of fairly unpleasant stuff:

- Do a bunch of reading (90% of the population doesn't like reading).
- Laboriously type their name and address (only geeks use auto form fill).
- Hand over a phone number so a telemarketer will pester them.
- Give an email and take the risk of being spammed.
- Dig out a credit card and maybe have it stolen by a phisher or fraudster.
- Pay for something.

No wonder average landing page conversions are in the single digits ? even
for free offers!
