Landing Page Follow Up Series

I'm using landing pages, and full-blown sites, to promote products and generate email leads. I'm stating to get decent sign-ups and looking to build some solid lists. I am now setting up my email responder series and coming up with a lot of questions. I've encountered varying opinions on how to best build a relationship with my list, so I'm just here looking for some input. What's the best way to follow up with people who sign up for your list? I'm sure this can vary greatly depending upon niche and other factors, but just some general input would be great.
Also, for people who sign up but never confirm their email address, should I just go ahead and add them to my list anyways?

One of my initial questions is in regards to the initial response after sign up. Do I say hey thanks for joining my list? or just get right in to providing them with relevant information.

Something I'm trying to understand is the relationship between my self and my list. Am I to engage the users personally and say things like "thanks for joining my list" or am I to portray myself as more of a brand, or website...

Any input would be much appreciated

LOL dude - you've got an identity crisis going on. I went back and forth on this and it's very counter productive.
Do you want to make it personal? Or do you want to promote it like a brand? Do you want to be a guru or just run an awesome site?

Either way - people will need to trust your 'brand' - whether that is you as an individual or just that they like your site. I went the site route - and it's working ok.

Take a look at that site Natural News. I know a lot of people who trust that site for "truth" and others who think it's filled with BS info. Either way, it's a monster site with a huge following on Facebook and email. It has a very distinct voice.

I don't use the follow-up stuff inside the auto-responder anymore. Instead I write out emails and schedule them via the calendar.

I always send some content based emails (including random stuff I find online other websites etc.) and then an ad a week.

Or I write a content based email and insert some links to articles that are basically pre-selling ads.

Just start doing it.

Just do it. Start scheduling emails and and keep building your list. Don't over think it.

i hate this system, clickbank is just a dead end bro...endless spamming and snake oil, you will never catch on, try to become a vendor or bag it.

thanks for the input. quick question... when creating and testing pages, how long do you run a campaign before you feel you can get accurate stats?

i've noticed many people enter email but don't confirm it, is this a reason for not using an auto responder such as aweber, which requires email confirmation before auto-responding can take place?
or should i be sending them to the offer only after they've confirmed? rather than right after they signed-up

Simple. This depends on what you promised them when you asked them to sign up. In other words, why did they sign up to your list?

Did you offer a free ebook? Or subscription to a newsletter?

You should simply follow up on your promise. If you offered them a free ebook, then send them the download link. If you told them they're subscribing to a health newsletter, then send them their first issue.

A free video is what i promised, and by free video i mean the free video on the sales page of most cb products... i guess i'll try putting in the thank you page "your free video will be sent to your inbox once your email is confirmed...

i'm still looking for some clarification here, if it's a downside that auto-responders such as aweber require email confirmation...
