Kloakit

Hi everybody. Okay so here is the deal I am now so frustrated cuz I bought Kloakit and my server which is Hostassured (recommended by the kloakit forum) said that it was compatible. I guess I am reaching out to any kloakit users that perhaps can help me create the cloakpages since I can't seem to get a hold of DAN the owner for couple of days now. Please help anyone? I am desperate now...spent 1000 dollars and stuck on this crap. HELP HELP HELP

I don't understand how any script wouldn't be compatible with another server. It just doesn't make sense, other than some 'programs' that you can install on your hosting account yourself.

How exactly does the 'KloakIt' program work?
Does it input code onto your website, or do you just upload it and and install?

Oh, and the links in your signature don't work.

EDIT::
I've looked at the KloakIt website, and I don't get HOW it would work.

The 'View Source' option in your browser will show you what your browser is displaying. It will give you the code that the website gave it to render the page. And PHP Files can't be stolen, unless someone has your FTP information.

Make sure that you compile the script outside your cgi-bin. But before that, how far along are you in the install process?

I had one helluva time with it but then I tried different permissions also realized the files should all be outside the cgi-bin.

Be a bit more specific ..maybe I can help you along.

what errors problems where you having with your old new server ?

Ashley,

Please try contacting me at [email protected]

I wonder if my spam filter somehow caught your emails.

Sorry for the trouble.

KloakIt uses some perl libraries that are commonly installed on webservers, but it is conceivable that they might not be installed. Also, KloakIt requires that the host allow the user to configure their website with .htaccess files. some restrictive hosts don't allow that.

It creates pages that execute a CGI script which determines the identity of a vistitor. If the visitor is a search engine spider, the script serves an optimized web page. If the visitor is not a search engine spider, the script serves another web page. Sound simple? It is, but there are a lot more features available besides just the bare bones ones I just described.

You are absolutely right. Once code is served to your browser, anybody can just view the source to see it. That misses the point, though. KloakIt doesn't serve your optimized code to human visitors, so they can't see it. KloakIt only serves that code to visiting search engine spiders. Also, it wasn't written in PHP. It was written in perl. And, when we're talking about code, we are not talking about programming code, we're talking about HTML code.

Hope I've cleared things up for you.

yes and soft on C++ also

off topic: Ashley, what is your avatar of? it looks like there is a game being played that I know of...

Save your money and try using http://www.gigsblast.com
it a program within a cloaking program ...

Actually that link redirects to EWI which is an installer and set up for SEC search engine cloaker - a different beast to kloakit. I stopped using it a while back as I wasnt seeing any results with SEC and it appears from their forum that others are experiencing the same.

Suggesting a SEC installer to someone who is asking for help with Kloakit smacks of spam

I've shelled out wads for kloakit, ssec and sec with all the addons. To date, I'm only using sec because ssec was getting dropped by google too often, sec was yielding minor results and as yet, I havent been able to get kloakit working at all.

Dan, the blank page/ssi issue seems to affect alot of host providers. I would have thought hostgator would have the specs required but alas it didnt. Is there a solution to the ssi issue that works? changing the extensions to shtml only ever resulted in a different error for me... and a non functioning cloak system...

Any advice on getting some value out of my investment?

if anyone needs hosting for this script I will provide it. If any errors or missing dependencies pop up I will attempt to resolve them by modifying the server. pm me if interested
