I have an idea about starting a book and publishing it to kindle. It's about a diet style that I have great experiance with it and also transformed my self with it. Losed 35kg. I am thinking about it but there are a lot of books about this diet. Does that mean that my book isnt going to be competive? How can i check if the niche i decide write the book for, is going to be good enought for me to sell some book copies?

when you type the diet in... see how many results.

then see the top 5 for the keyword... so like the name of the diet i guess.. that's prob the main keyword for most of them... like for example... "paeleo diet"
if the top 5 books in that keyword are decent rank.. "under 20-10ks"... you should be good.

now... do this with a few more keywords in the niche... and try to rank for those keywords,.

###:i have not had success with kindle,., thats just some info i read from a few kindle sources... you should read some kindle threads. search kindle is the ticket.

maybe it will work.. maybe not... some people seem to have done pretty well... good luck. ima try kindle again when i get a laptop

Thank you for the answer. As i am new to the IM, Can you explain a little better please? Where do i type the keyword? what is rank? How can i try to rank for a keyword? thank you

goto amazon.com

theres a search bar. thats where you put the keyword.
dont forget to set it for kindle ebooks... from the pulldown tab whixh is on the left (i think)

your keywords rank automatically. its based off of how well your keywords describe your book and how well the categories you picked describes the book and by how mAny people download and review your stuff.

you want to search your main keyword.. paleo diet

the first 5 are obviously the top rank for that keyword... to see their ranks you click their book and scroll down... somewhere in the middle of the page you should see ranks. ranks for certain categories and stuff...
like rank 7291 under health/fitness/diets or something...

im not sure if what im saying is accurate... because i havent made money. i sold one book like 4 times so somethin i did was wrong. read kindle is the ticket, its long but good info there,,.

good luck

its a perfect niche and you can sell tons of your copy on amazon , just make sure cover and content of the book is High Quality

What would be good ranking? lower the best or higher the best? how this numbers translate to common sense?

There is a little more to it than people answering this thread are telling you.

But to hopefully point you in the right direction a little on Amazon.com:

Amazon Best Seller Rank 50,000 to 100,000 - selling close to 1 book a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 10,000 to 50,000 - selling 5 to 15 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 5,500 to 10,000 - selling 15 to 25 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 3,000 to 5,500 - selling25 to 70 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 1,500 to 3,000 - selling70 to 100 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 750 to 1,500 - selling 100 to 120 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 500 to 750 - selling120 to 175 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 350 to 500 - selling175 to 250 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 200 to 350 - selling 250 to 500 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 35 to 200 -selling500 to 2,000 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank 20 to 35 - selling 2,000 to 3,000 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank of 5 to 20 - selling3,000 to 4,000 books a day.
Amazon Best Seller Rank of 1 to 5 - selling4,000+ books a day.

Look at the books that are the best sellers in your niche and decide if you can create a book that is going to be of the same or better quality than them. If you cannot do that, you should think twice about producing a book that is of inferior quality to your competitors and expecting good sales.

so for example if i want to do a book about PALEO DIET, should i search for "diet" and see the ranking? or "PALEO" and see the ranking?

like gringo said... theres more to it than i know... i have yet to be sucessful with kindle but i want to try again once my life is a bit more stable...

anyways.. to answer your question...

for one... you can have more than one keyword... from what ive read,, not all your keywords have to be in the title... but its good to have some in your description (the about the book section you make when submitting)
now you dontwant to stuff all your keywords in the description either. make it fluid and well.. descriptive. you have people click your book because they cover... and niche that its in (keyword in the title)... the description will get them to buy it.. if it doesnt sound like something theyneed or want... your SOL. so make it professional.. while addingkeywords.

so back to your question... keyword research is super important. look up both diet and paleo. look up paleo diet... look up everything you can. if you see that paleo by itself is mostly about dinosaurs... it might.ot be great.,. but then again.,. it might work,.. still not sure... how it works exactly... i know amazon tries to make everything easief for the customer s
who is searching.. so maybe test things out and change stuff around later. i know im not much help... but really try spending a few hours reading that other thread

There's no reason to think that you can't sell an ebook on diet and weightloss. Even if others have the similar topic.

You would just want to find a new way to approach the material such as documenting your own personal journey of weight loss with images and videos and a daily diet plan that you followed to lose the weight from start to finish.

so for example if i want to do a book about PALEO DIET, should i search for "diet" and see the ranking? or "PALEO" and see the ranking?

If you are looking to create a book on PALEO DIET then you should head over to kindle books on the Amazon store and type in PALEO DIET and see what books come up.

Then, using the chart above you can see how many sales are being made by the top books by checking their ranking.

If you are happy with the expected sales then decide if you can create something that is better and if you are still happy to proceed...

...Read the other kindle threads on here for more info.
