I'm in the process of trying this out right now -- I have a 30k word book I just put on sale for $5.95. It's about something I'm pretty passionate about, so the words came easy, but my thought is that I am going to feed the various subsections back into my blog as blog posts and drip them out over the next 180 days or so.
I got the idea from the blogger James Altrucher, who used to write about financial stuff, but now writes about life.
I can't see a flaw, but I would appreciate feedback if you see a problem here --
I drip out the content for free -- I think ultimately the text is worth more on the blog vs. on Amazon anyways -- wider potential audience. I then link, using an affiliate link, from my Niche siteto my own book -- that way I can offer the content ahead of time to those who are impatient, and also make additional revenue off of any sales from that cookie for 24 hours.
Finally -- like Altrucher already does, if you are writing or publishing your own content on your niche, why not repackage it as a Kindle book and link back to your own site on the book description? I did this (the backlinks) when I submitted the book tonight, and it says it is being published, so I'm hoping the links stay in.
The result, I'm hoping, will be more visitors to the blog, more folks writing me with feedback, which I can then turn into new content for both channels (blog and ebooks), and meanwhile continue to drive sales using the blog to the Amazon page for my book, getting affiliate credit.
I'm pretty new here (1 1/2 weeks), so I could be very wrong. Any flaws in the plan above? I don't see why original blog posts by my (or written for me, so I own them) couldn't be repackaged as e-books, since Altrucher already makes money doing that.
