Just had my KDP account terminated for:

Due to repeated Content Guideline violations with respect to books you have submitted through your Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account, specifically submission of content that is freely available on the web, we are terminating your KDP account and your KDP Agreement effective immediately.

I was pretty sure I had covered my tracks as most of my books were rewritten. I had a good year with this account.

The email says I'll get paid, which is good as I have about $400.00 owing from February.

Has anyone opened a new KDP account after theirs has been banned? If so is there anything I should be aware of? Any special precautions to take?

Thanks,

DEO

First step is read their content guidelines carefully, they aren't one to abuse their power but they are one to take swift action, you clearly made a mistake somewhere, it happens, we're all human but the best thing you can do is understand those in and out before moving on.

Luckily they nearly always pay even once banned so that's not a big issue.

When it comes to opening a new account they are pretty forgiving; just get another phone number (use a skype number if need be) and you should be good to go.

If you keep violating the rules you will eventually need to use a different IP and address or they may go so far as blocking your Tax Information; so as I said before re-read the guidelines and it should all be good.

I had about 20 books up, and the one I suspect caused the problem was a semi-rewritten plr one I put up about 10 months ago. I've never had a book blocked like some people have, just terminated without warning.

I just remembered I actually have a backup account I made when I opened the first one! Lucky I was thinking ahead!

Ok now for some "original" content!

Same thing happened to me with one of my accounts. Luckily, it was one with only a few books in it averaging about 50$/mo.

I had some books blocked in that account a few months ago but they were 100% rehashed original PLR books. The other books (reorganized PLR articles) lasted until the suspension.

Pretty sure you need separate names and bank accounts for new accounts, that's what I've done.

edit: Oh and they paid me up to full.

Oh that's good news then. I might skip the PLR method and hire a writer or 2 with that 400 bucks they owe me. Seems like they are doing lots of content matching checking, and getting smart about it.

They are for sure cracking down on PLR and rehash just come up with some new content its worth it in the long run

@wargasm I know you can use the same name, you might be right on the back account part never thought of that

I was getting a check as I'm not in the US, but I have a few different postal address's I can use, and a few different variations of my name I can use.

Wierd, some 5 hours after I got the termaination email, I still have access to my stats (although not not books, that page says I am blocked) and it's still updating the sales, has anyone had this experience before?

oh and what happens to the books, does Ama zon still sell them (and keep the moolah) or are they removed?

What is the minimum amount of pages they will accept? I checked on their start up page and could not find on the tos...i know its off topic but thought i would ask as i read through this post...? thanks.

For the KDP versions there is not minimum number of pages. For Createspace the minimum depends on the category but short books are in general not recommended.

I'd contact their customer support and see what they have to say honestly.
