    Hey Guys

Just wondering if it would be possible to "kill competition". I have recently SEO'd a site to page one on Google rank 1. However. Looking at traffic statistics that are made public ally available on each site, I can see that alot of people are visiting another site in the same business. Now if I could remove them from page 1 of Google places it will bring a lot more business.

Question is. How would you go about this? I know some people may not agree with this and that is why I have posted it in Black Hat.

Heres the deal, even if you can somehow harm his rankings, someone else will come along with a better site than you also, and you will be constantly be playing the game of just trying to wack the competition. My suggestion is to go to his site, take a look around and figure out WHY people are going to his site over yours. Work that idea into your site to make your site better. Its easier when you can just concentrate on your site, and keep improving it, instead of worrying about everyone elses.

The two sites are practically identical in terms of information. Just rephrased differently. Other competition won't come because it's local business. I'd prefer if I could get the answer I'm looking for.

I'm not your competition. I work with local sites. I also have good reason to "fuck" the competitors site up.

What happened to providing a useful site? you are trying to "kill" you competitors site, but is sounds like he has a better site than you. How about you stop being childish and trying to hurt him, and actually help yourself by improving your site.

They won't agree with it because it's a stupid idea. Your energies are much better spent improving the ranking of your own site.

This is easy enough. Buy 9 more domains (or create 9 more web properties: Squidoo? Youtube? Public Facebook Page? etc.) and then carry out the same SEO processes to "take over" the 1st page for that keyword. Obviously, discretion is advised and it would be a good idea if you intend to link to your main site from these properties to do it subtly. If this is a real business good quality content is paramount on these other properties. It may take you some time, but in the end it will be worth it as you should be able to push down your competitor to the 2nd page. You will also gain more traffic as you will now own all of the major spots for that search. Maybe mix it up between web properties and actual mini sites.

Another way to do it would be to find out all the review sites that pertain to this business sector, and buy yourself a few hundred negative reviews (m*croworkers? there are tons of sites like this). This should in theory push down their rank. This would need to be done over time as a massive amount of negative reviews in one go would probably be overlooked by google's sentiment part of the algorithm.

If you are unfamiliar with the google sentiment part of the algorithm, there was a site that ranked very highly for some very competitive keywords last year. A site was getting hundreds of negative reviews all over the place by pissed off consumers and this actually had positive impact on the sites organic ranking. Google subsequently had to make changes to the algorithm and it now calculates "positive" and "negative" sentiment. The reason this came into the spotlight is because this site wound up on a major news publishing site.

    Hope this helps.

Oh and one more thing. If you've somehow managed to actually calculate what your CTR is against his, and his is higher (I doubt you've even been able to do this as you would need access to their analytics), one of the easiest and least time consuming ways to resolve this is try and optimise your meta title and description tags so that it reads better than theirs while maintaining the balance for onsite SEO optimisation (or whatever you guys want to call it).

    Example:

Keyword in question: Buy Italian Shoes

Buy Italian Shoes Online | Italian Shoe Store Milan
We stock high quality Italian Shoes. Next Day Delivery and 30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Idea is to have three reasons in the description tag as to why the user should come to your site. Those are three USPS for a site that would hypothetically sell italian shoes (no shit). How do I know this? Research and conversation with hundreds of Online Marketers that work for large businesses.

As with the Title tag - it is widely accepted that it should be no longer than about 96 characters, and your primary keywords should be at the beginning of the title. A good idea here (if your local business has a name) is to put the local business name and location after the primary keyword at the end of the title.

    Blah. Boring stuff.

Thanks to those inputting the information I asked. Reason im looking at doing this is due to vandalism by one company against another which has cost them. Don't agree with it. /end of discussion.
