Hey I had a quick question about ranking keywords. For this example I will use the word "shoes". If I was trying to rank the word shoes and then I also wanted to rank the word "basketball shoes" on the same page is this possible? Or would I need to have a page trying to rank the word "shoes" and then another page trying to rank the page "basketball shoes".

Thanks for any help.

In theory you could rank the one page for both. It depends on how competitive the keyword is and the competition. For example: red and white widgets in Detroit Michigan and red and white widgets in Detroit Michigan on main st. may be achievable. Not shoes and red shoes. In my experience one kw per page is typically more effective.

ok thanks for the help, that is kind of what I was thinking also. I guess it wouldn't hurt even if I did try it on a page and then just make another page also.

well, you can use both the keyword in you article but If you are writing a 600 word article on Google AdWords tips, and you place the keyword, ?Google AdWords tips? in the article 100 times, you would have a keyword density of 6% for that article or page meaning that out of 600 words, 6% of those words are the focus keyword. it include all your title tag and all your meta tags..

It is possible to rank one page for few keywords. This mainly depends on content of the page (SEO on page). And also SEO off page aka backlinks.

Both of the keyword examples that you have mentioned can be ranked even if you only have them in one page. However, your result will still depend on how effective your entire SEO strategy is. More often than not, you can achieve better ranking if you concentrate on just one keyword per page.

How important the keyword density is in this case ? Is it more important ? As a novice I expect the explanation from you. Please don't ignore.
