Okay, I'm just about ready to start my next project and I've found the niche i'll be doing and keywords etc. But the optimal domain name that i want is taken and I was wondering whether or not the domain that I'm thinking of buying will cause more harm than good.

Okay lets say for example my main keyword was "black hat world" and i wanted to get the domain www.blackhatworld.com but it was already taken would the domain www.blackhatworlds.com be just a sufficient for my keyword choice considering the main keywords are in there just with an added letter?

You should read the sticky " Basic SEO practices for newbies:" thread, there is some discussion on keywords in domains with different opinions.

Check out the following posts in that thread:

Hope that helps.

its always best to have the keyword in the url yeh but you dont need it. Something close like that would be great, well sorta. It all depends on the keyword your going for.

If you hit something longtail you mayaswell just add a my or something like that infront of the word, myblackhatworld.com. Adding an s to the end may confuse the search engines into thinking you are targetting the word with an s. If you search the results with and without an s they are different....

But try a few different ways and you will learn what works and wat doesnt (its different for everyone)

It depends what kind of site you are creating - if there is already an existing and actively maintained site, then just adding an 's' on the end probably wont help you as the other site will likely come before you and it is just creating a lot of potential future problems, especially if you are a serious business. If the other domain is just registered and parked without any content, then you could go ahead with it, but there is a risk that someone eventually develops the other site - once again it depends on what type of site and business this is, sometimes it is ok for personal sites, but for businesses I would advise against it.

you need a site analysis man and also you can make a similar keywords to other site!

nah blackhatworlds.com wouldnt be good because your not targeting worlds, your targeting people searching for blackhat, people dont search black hat world, they search black hat seo, black hat tips etc, so i would get blackhatseoking.com before blackhatworlds.com , i know i know each case is different

Definitely important. I wouldn't go with the "s" if the other site is built out. You might spend a bunch of time and money on the site and then start getting letters from the lawyers for the other site telling you to take it down. Could fight them, but cost mulla. Better to just add "my" or some such thing as suggested above to avoid the problem.

balck hat world and black hat worlds are different keywords. this will give different results

I think thats okay ... keywords in domain only one from a lot of way to increase your web into no 1 google. you must FOCUS
