before someone says go google, I have been doing that. Please check my IM journey thread.

I've been looking and can't really find a good answer.
What's the difference between keywords and anchor text? I know keywords goes into the articles and stuff like that and anchor texts is a part of the link that you post but could the keywords also be your anchor text? I don't quite get the separation.

Keywords are the search query's that you are targeting to rank the highest in the SERP's for. And yes they go in your article and preferably title, domain name, and H-tags. Don't overdo it though...

You seem to understand what anchor text is and yes you should use your keywords as anchor text but do it sparingly as google caught on to this quite a while back and will penalize your site if overdone.

People use to spam the hell out of blogs, forums, and directories using their main keyword as anchor text in the links back to their sites and ranked like crazy. Now you have to be careful about the type of links, diversity of the links, and the speed at which you create them. Many of those sites crashed and burned when google rolled out the updates targeting these types of links.

There is a ton of info on the forum here about tiered links, link velocity, link diversity, anchor text diversity and such. Search it out and read as much as you can to get your head wrapped around it. Then go from there. You may make some mistakes and burn down a site or two but you will definately learn from any mistakes you make.

    Good luck.

Hey thanks for the reply. The reason I brought this up was because I created a simple seo services website just to test it out.

I did only on page seo and made sure the page loaded really fast. Then next thing I know I searched google yesterday it was the last link on the first page today, it's the fourth link on the first page. Huffingtonpost article is number one. Then a youtube and another site rich daily or something like that.

When I look at the search with seo quake my site shouldn't even be up there, i mean those other sites take a look: http://i.imgur.com/jQwUh3F.jpg

I will do some off page seo tricks but that's the main reason why I was asking about these anchor text, it doesn't seem clear, so maybe I'll have a few different things to try, if this site crashes and burns its okay. I never expected it to get this close to the sun to begin with.

    Thanks for the feedback.

You can utilize many keywords in your niche article. But, use targeted one or two anchor text to link your site.

I saw your keywords in the screenshot, but can't find your domain when I search. Try using a rank-tracking service (free or paid), like WhatsMySERP.com to track your progress. If you search from your own IP or usual browser, you may get false results.

With regards to keywords and anchors, you do want to use keyword-optimised anchors in your on-site content AND inbound link-building work, but these days you must use a lot of variation and random terms like "here", "this site", "example" instead of just the main keyword.

haha yea damn i messed up but its okay. I noticed that in google.com it shows up but google.com.xx doesn't really show up yet. If you see the keyword do a search and let me know where you see the page if at all.

    [edit]
now two of my pages are ranking 4th and 5th I really hope that I can expand on this. This site will be my test bed for some adsense sites that I will use to generate some income.

The A tag in HTML means ANCHOR.

Links are made of A tags, as in <a href="http://www.example.com">ANCHOR TEXT</A>. The text in the anchor, is the anchor text.
