    Hello guys,
    I've got still much to learn about SEO and even niche and kws research and I would like to ask you some advices about two keywords (targeting the same niche) that I'm think about to use to start a blog/website to monetize with Adsense.

    I would like to hear your opinions about the difficulty to rank these keywords, bearing in mind that:

    1. I will do every aspect of the on page SEO on the blog;
    2. I will use some good service/s ($xx-xxx) possibly here on the forum to get some strong backlinks boosting;
    3. My SEO strategy will be "long term";
    4. I will put many quality articles/content on the blog overtime;
    5. I'm thinking about buy an aged expired domain with at least a couple of years and with some decent PR (and even backlinks if I found one with a good price) hoping to get ranked faster.

    About this last point (expired domain) it would worth the money to get a faster ranking?

    Here are some stats of the keywords:

    keyword 1

    27,100 avg searches/month

    adwords competition: high

    CPC: 5.29

    1.490.000 results on google

    A couple of pics from MS and moz

    kw1-moz.jpg

    Keyword 2

    22,200 avg searches/month

    adwords competition: high

    CPC: 4.32

    652.000 results on google

    pics kw 2

    kw2r.jpg

    kw2-moz.jpg

    Tell me what do you feel about those keywords!

    Any other advices to get ranked fast and for the long term are welcome ;)

    Thank you

    I think that if your keywords have xx.xxx searches per month and only xxx.xxx results in google you might be looking at Broad searches.

    I might be wrong...but i got this feeling

    Hey I got the data from the keyword planner tool that, as far as I know, now uses "exact match" as default to shows searches results...correct me if I'm wrong!
    Anyway the results on google are searched by "keyword"

    Thank you for your reply.
    So we are talking about the "standard way" to make quality and niche relevant web 2.0s , linking them to the main website and build some backlinks to them right?
    With proper "t2 and t3 links" are you talking about that? Could you elaborate some more on this points please.

    From the quick glance on your pics, I would say is possible, but it could be hit and miss in terms of ROI and time investment for not so high number of monthly searches.

    So you wouldn't go for those kind of keywords?

    20k searches and CPC of 4-5 seems good to me...what kind of numbers you advice to aim for?

    I think it would be really tough to try to rank in more competitive keywords?

    Thank you

    Tools to predict keyword competition are really just a rough estimate. You have to actually start building links to see where you stand.

    In how much time, roughly, we can test the keywords building the links?

    I wouldn't personally.

    Number of searches depends really on the niche and other factors, depends also on monetization etc.

    Don't get stuck on few keywords, you can find new ones very fast, I don't usually plan a website based on 20-25k searches keywords unless I'm like sure I can rank fast to top 3, and I'm promoting some affiliate product/CPA offer with decent payout. That's just me.

    Thank you for your advice.
    The problem seems that even if I try different niches , on average, the difficulty of the keywords are very much the same and I wouldn't find myself to spend money and time to discover then that I can barely manage to get at the first page lol ;)

    So for what I understand you aim for more than 20-25k searches per month? And you managed to rank for those keywords?

    I saw some keywords that generally are considered medium/difficult and with low searches like 3k-5k .. am I missing something here? :)

    Yes, more than 20-25k searches. And yep I can rank when I found the ones with low comp, the number of searches and competition isn't always related, you just have to dig deep.

    Don't know what niches or what you are trying to find/target, but I found at least 20 new keywords yesterday that are well over 40k, few of 250-300k and one 500k with very low comp.

    Rather than aged domain you could try once tier1 method.
