What do you use to help you identify keywords for SEO/Adwords?

I've been using Google's tool, but been looking at some of the others options.... do they offer an advantage?

I also successfully use Google's tool so I don't really need others. Most tools pull from this source anyways. There's one that supposedly gets KWs not shown, called Keyword Sniper Pro 2. Maybe I'll check that one out sometime down the line.

well. so much.

For one click button : market samurai, traffic travis, ultimate niche finder, keyword scout, all in scraper, steatlh keyword competition analyzer, and spyglass.

for manual i need : firefox, google keyword tool, seo quake, majestic seo, and google itself to scrape competition, RC, allintitle, allinurl, allinanchor, allintext, spyfu, and amazon to see if there is a product to be promoted.

I m also using Google tool which is the sufficient for me and also the nice one.

I think folks using just google tool are missing out. With Market Sam I can look at the top 10 competing sites for my keyword AND -->> check their backlinks for the anchor text. So a site may have a 1000 backlinks coming in (looks scary) but only 2 of the anchors using my target keywords. This is very important, and cannot be done easily by hand.

All other tools like Market samurai, Keywordanalyzer, etc. uses, Google Adwords tool for keyword related information, so I guess Google's SK tool is the more powerful tool than any other...

Only for getting the raw keyword data. But then google keyword tool does not give you competition, etc. etc. If you just need the raw keyword data, that is one thing, but that is a small part of keyword selection IMHO.

Google tool is fine and nice compare to other KW tools. If you are willing to pay, there are some KW tools that are "promising" based on their ads but I suggest you should rather invest your money on other blogging or seo tools. Google alone will help you go a long way.

The above post is Crud ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Googles keyword tool alone will leave you up $hit creek without a paddle more often than not.

The search stats are opften widly out
PPC figures are a joke for adsense (both ways - I've got page 1 number 1 paying 1/10th of what G says on some campaigns and had to pay 10x more just to get 6th spot on others - it really is a complete joke)

It doesn't analyse you competitions backlink metrics. THIS IS VITAL! Sometimes 20 good backlinks will completely dominate 20,000 average ones, you need to know anchor text, PR of the URL it's coming from , the "trust and age" of the site it's coming from..G takes all these into account when ranking you in SERPS - but gives none of this info in their joke of a keyword tool.

I'm not even going to mention any other tool - I'm not interested in any particular one, nor selling any - I just know from many years experience and literally hundreds of campaigns and website setups - that Googles tool is $hit!

It's not even meant for keyword research for natural ranking. It's meant to help adsense and adwords clients, and it's cocking terrible at it.

Scritty

hear hear - and I thought it was just me!
Listen I know you're not going to mention another tool... but do you know of anything that is less terrible than the Google one?

Had some success with Market Samurai, it's based on the google keyword tool and is very useful at finding out whether it will be easy to rank in a particular niche. Then also find the best keywords to target that give a balance of good traffic but not strong competition that will be hard to rank above.
