I don't know if anyone has ever experienced this (I am sure people have) but the service I am trying to do Keyword research for have no search volume, is this because literally no one is searching for these services or Google just doesn't know? Out of the 14 keywords I am trying to do some research on only 6 actually have a "monthly local searches" the rest show up as "-" is there like another program I can use that would be able to fill in that information or am I just shit out of luck? Service is "window cleaning/pressure washing/gutter cleaning + City" Any help would be amazing!

PS - These are all decent size cities 40,000-100,000 population each

Scrapebox - find all the suggested keywords
Paste them into Adwords and filter.

When you see "-" as value in GKT, it means there is not enough date available to show which obviously means there is not enough search generated for a keyword. service + city is the common term people use to find a service but there are other ways also like best plumbing service in New York, plumbing service in NY, plumbing service in New York under 1000 something like that. Hope you get my point. You have to find those variations. Of course those long tails won't have high search volume but converts well. You can use Google Auto-suggest feature, related search feature or yahoo answers to find those keywords.

Always check the competition of keywords as well as the number of searches of keywords.
and the best tool is Google Keyword Suggestion tool that is Google Adwords but you can also check on Word Tracker and keyword discovery.

    Home Page:
Isn't the whole point of keyword research to find the keywords that DO have search volume, not use ones that don't have any and scratch your head at why?

If you have some cash and time to burn, run an Adwords campaign for a month targeting your specific keywords as exact match. Run it for a month and in the end you should see the number of impressions. Hopefully it's not too hard to get a page 1 ad showing up as you want the # of impressions on that page. But anyway, this will give you some idea, as you are targeting keywords by exact match. Might even get some leads during the month, too.

Scrapebox has a google suggest scraper that will get you all the keywords the people search for. All you do next is plug in these keywords into adwords and run it.
