Go to drugstore dot com and look at their products pages. They are stuffing the hell out of their pages.

Isn't that deemed illegal by Google?

A site like that may not even rely on google for traffic. it is already known, and people visit directly

Keyword stuffing doesn't work anymore as I know its to damn obvious - but looks like ScrapeBoss is right - they get a lot of direct traffic.

It definately works, Matt Cutts was caught doing it on his blog a few months back!

He ended a post like this:

There's many kinds of SEO: Longtail SEO, onsite SEO, offsite SEO, Local SEO, video SEO, SEO SEO, Search engine optimisational SEO, SEO for small businesses, SEO for large businesses, SEO for ecommerce sites, etc, etc, etc,etc

You get the idea, the paragraph was freaking HUGE, and it was nothing more than a bunch of long tails separated by commas!
When he was called on it his toady sycophants piped in "Oh thats not keyword stuffing, thats just the way Matt talks" What? Like Rainman?!?!?!
(I would post a link, but I'd need to find it on his site and every time I visit I throw up a little in my mouth)

Far as Im concerned if Matt's done it on his blog it can't be bad, but further more if Matt does it, and denies he did - you know it works!

please with such a generic EMD like that, plus over 1.2 million indexed pages, the penalty for the kw stuffing (if they even get one) wouldn't effect their traffic much at all. Plus factoring in the service they are providing, site design/layout, content, bounce rate..

I know for a fact that stuffing is not woriking for everyday small projects.

I had a site, which had over 500 pages indexed, each was around 200-300 words of content, but I've stuffed the hell out of it, each post had the main KW or variation, and all categories and even the search box had the KW by default.

Long story short I've created more than 15k backlinks to it over the course of a year, and what do you know it never moved over 5th page.

Recently I gifted it to a friend, and she removed all the stuffing, rewrote the descriptions and titles, and a week later the site was on page 3 for it's main KW.

SO NO, KW stuffing is not working and if you think otherwise, you'll get disappointed ...

That is right. Keyword stuffing will continue working until the boss catch you doing the prohibited act. But I also agree that that website has already gained direct traffic that being banned by google may not affect them big time.
