    Hey guys...

Right now I am drilling down on my keywords I am gonna be targeting on my upcoming campaign...

This has been a big source of frustration trying to figure out which route to go....I am gonna be using ezine articles to rank for each keyword (by using the kw in the title)..

I am gonna be doing a year long campaign in this niche....I started with 1800 keywords and now it is narrowed down to 970...

I am trying to figure out the competition parameters so I can narrow this list down even more....

I originally thought that I was gonna keep things under 10k phrase match as far as competition goes...but now as I think about it when I write an article with the keyword in the title wont this show up on Google as an allintitle: type result?

Any thoughts on which to use when narrowing down this list?

Remember this is a year long campaign in this niche....I was hoping to narrow it down to 400 keywords or so...

It can take you more than a year to rank for one decent keyword... don't see how you can do 400

Focus on quality, not on quantity

My competition has over 1700 key words. They are ranked somewhere after 49 million. I don't think they will be around for long. :D

if you find kwds with high search volume compared to the results (competing pages), these should be easier to target.

IMHO optimizing for 'best quality widgets' will still pull some broad match relevancy for 'best widgets' and 'quality widgets' due to proximity so you may not need to optimize for every kwd in your list.

There are so many factor to getting a page ranked...good luck!

See the thing that's causing this tug of war in my mind on this subject is that a lot of these keywords have big spreads in them...like some are 80k phrase match but only 300 allintitle match

And I am traying to figure out if I should go by the phrase or all in title to narrow these down? Since the keyword is in the title of the artcle (ie how it shows up in google) and I'm using ezine articles and its authority to rank articles in G for the keywords these type of phrase/allintitle broad competition spreads are causing a mental tug of war on deciding proper comp level to filter these keywords at and whether to use phrase match or all in title...any thoughts?
