After running continuous Xrumer blasts for my main keyword in which the link contained "www" (www.mysite.com), the main keyword is now no longer ranking on Google. However my main keyword still ranks for (no "www") mysite.com.

For example:
< href= "www.mysite.com" > main keyword < /a> = no results in SERPS
< href= "mysite.com" > main keyword < /a> = results in SERPS

So is this a sandbox effect or a Google dance?

Sorry for the newb question, I'm new to this and just wrapping my head around it... :)

google only looks at a domain one way. probably just moving around. if it's still like that after some time, then start looking for issues.
 
From what I know. www.yoursite.com and http://yoursite.com ( or yoursite.com) are totally different things in the eyes of google bot. www.yoursite.com is treated as a whole website and http://yoursite.com is treated as a single page ( i.e your home page ). You can figure out this difference if you are using Market samurai. When you type in www.yoursite.com and check the backlinks you wont find backlinks to the page or BLP but when you type http://yoursite.com you can see BLP.

Im using market samurai as well and I see what your referring too. MS give 2 completely different result sets including the Seo competion module for the www prefix and without.

wow i thought I had only 1000 backlinks indexed for one of my sites but when I put in the www I found I have more than 8000. sweet hahahaha

301 redirect the yoursite.com and set canonicals.
 
the concept is known as canonical urls.....some good blog posts out there on it..
 
The easiest way to ensure that all links go to a single source (with www or without) is to use the Google Webmaster tools.

Add one site as w*w*w.yourdomain -> Site configuration -> Preferred domain

Add the second one as h*t*t*p://yourdomain -> Site configuration -> Set preferred domain to the same as the one previously

Now no matter if you are building links that includes http or just www, Google will rank the site that you have set up in your preferences.

The simplest way to do the 301 redirect is going to your cpanel >>Scroll Down To "Domains" section>>Click on "Redirects and there you can do what you need.

In case you need different types of 301 redirects (languages) this can give an initial idea of what to do.

doesn't Wordpress redirect. I been using site.com to market my sites and it works fine lol. I don't use www but then again wordpress does auto redirect so i'm safe.
 
You should tell Google which one you "prefer" from Google Webmasters also :)
 
Thanks for the info on canonical urls, however I'm still perplexed as to whats going on with my primary keyword. To recap, I'm getting no results in google for my primary keyword for the http://www.mysite.com URL even though I'm running daily Xrumer blasts for that KW . For http://mysite.com my primary KW is ranked.

- My site is 5 years old so its not a Google dance.
- My site is indexed so its not sand boxed.

So what's going on??
 
so if you are promoting a site do you recommend leaving fo the www to track and verify backlinks?

Backlinks from both with and w/o www are equally important but you must make them point to the same site - canonicalization
 
yes agreed
www and non www are totally different in google bots so you should do backlink for one only
