you can use them along with semrush to get the best approx infos
use keyword planner with location/language filtering to get better results,
use it to know check for the most searched keywords
then you can use ahrefs and/or semrush to know the approx search volume (as ad planner is not that accurate, only ranges)
for the competition, you can use ahrefs and/or semrush to make a quick filtering and basic idea
but none of them will help you to know the actual real kw competition
you'll have to check the SERPs manually and analyse on-page, 1 tier links of the top ranking websites/pages
a quick look at the tier 2 links as well
I even analyse the link structure and internal linking for these pages of the websites, but it's up to you ^^
