I have used both in the past, I published this free keyword research method a few month back that may help you

. Although I have changed my tactics more recently, I have a few pages using that method starting to pop onto the front page so it still works provided you have some solid off page

I use LTP and Market Samurai. Being real with you it sometimes takes me hours to find one good keyword.

i use ahrefs semrush kwfinder to research keywords since google keyword planner doesn't show the exact search.

No one tool is perfect because its impossible to get 100% accurate results, so it's best to use a mix or a few. That said, I use termexplorer.

+1 for Ahrefs, Also a good idea is to pay special attention to People Also Search For box in the SERP results. Check Quora, Reddit and industry forums. Wikipedia Pages Content could provide some nice insights, too.
