Keyword Research Question

Ok, Here it is,
while doing some research I came across several keywords that have low competition ( yes I did an Exact search)
so, Keyword1 -- Low Com -- 49,500 local searches -- cpc .64 -- G shows 5,200.00 results
keyword2 -- Low Com -- 8,100 Local searches --- cpc 1.02 - G shows 2,200.00 results

So question is, are this keywords worth spending time to rank?

If number of local search#cpc>$15K it is a good niche.
 
what i am worried is about the amount of page results shown on google when i search for the keyword.
if it had low competition and high local searches, but 2million results in google, is it still worth it?
 
IMO it depends on what is "worth it" a few things i generally think about is what could the keyword become, does it have potential growth in the near future?, with that said i have excellent results with local listings maybe its my niche but it ultimately depends on how much time you plan on spending... the hustles never over
 
First of all I just want to make sure that the "Low Com"s you have typed are not Adwords competitions which is shown in google kw tool. Because if they are, that competition is not the type of competition you are looking for.

Now, for finding actual competition (if you need it), look at the following things for each of those keywords:

1. PageRanks of the sites ranking (the lower the better, anything above PR 2 can be a bit difficult to rank)
2. Whether there are any ads showing for those kws or not. Showing ads means a kw has commercial values.
3. Try to analyze the links for the top ranking sites
3. Find out the domain ages of the top ranking sites
4. See if any videos are ranking on the 1st page for those kws. Videos/yahoo answers generally means there are no "authority" sites for those kws

That right there is a good keyword to rank for IF you do the proper keyword competition research. The low comp you're referring to is adwords comp. open up Traffic Travis (google it and download it) then get the reports from it about the competition of your keywords. Low backlinks are good. Look for matches too as in; Title, H1-3 tags, and URL. Hope this helps.

You can also use Google advance search operators to filter out results. For instance, you should see how many websites are using a particular keyword in title you can type allintitle:keyword and it will come up with websites that use it. There are more such as allinurl:keyword or allinanchor:keyword.

Thank you so much for this info.
I Have 1 question, is DMOZ and Yahoo directory listed, is that we need to consider?
For example, top 5 of the results is listed in DMOZ and Yahoo dir but it has low backlinks for the page...Is it still easy to out rank them?
Sometimes, I got confused with dmoz and yahoo dir matrix, is it need to consider or not?

I think you can go for it if it has low/weak backlinks (also remember to check the PRs of the backlinking URLs/domains).

I'd go for both of them

Remember, sites don't just get traffic for a single search phrase - you'll get lots of unexpected search phrase matches as well
