Keyword research question

If I am looking for a phrase in a domain but it's not taken can I buy a partial url and make the page name the ending? For example, "How to play basketball" is my phrase. However, howtoplaybasketball.com/net/info/org are taken, and so are all variations of it. Can I do something like

howtoplay.com/basketball and will it help?

I found a niche that has 30,000 searches monthly and a $6.97CPC value! But obviously every domain is taken! I'm trying to find a way to do get it in the url!

sure you can do this, you can also choose a name that doesn't have the kw in it

EMD helps but it's not essential

If the EMD.com/.net/.org have been taken you can always add a suffix or prefix.
For example, if the keyword was: basketball player, and the top TLD's were taken, then you could go for something like: basketballplayertips.com or bestbasketballplayer.com.

Remember that an EMD is one of over 200 ranking factors in Google's algo, and it's not as important as it was even 12 months ago. It can still be used effectively for long tail keywords, in low competition niches.

Thanks for the advice guys. SEOWhizz, that is a nice idea. I'm gonna do some more research before I completely narrow it down, but I think I've found a really good niche!

Your option sounds good but your domain name would become very generic and there are huge chances of getting unwanted traffic.

This will lead to an increase in bounce rate, if your website is talking about basketball alone.

As mentioned above EMD doesn't play any major role here. If the keyword is a long phrase use single domain and if it is short, go for suffix words.

Hope the search count is [EXACT], keyword is not seasonal and you are done with proper keyword research.
