I basically know what to look for when doing keyword/keyphrase research, and I'm sure there is no perfect formula to finding the best keyword, but I was wondering if those successful can provide some information on the minimums for each of the questions I have.

    1. What would be the minimum Local Search amount to get "some" traffic started? I've seen people say 1,900 or so, but can you go down to 750? Why / why not?

    2. Whats the minimum page authority? If Top 10 have 20 - 40 PA can you compete? Should it be lower?

    3. Page Links. I've seen people say 100 or less.

I guess I'm grinding my gears here trying to find the "Perfect" keyword/keyphrase. If I had a pretty good idea on these variables I could actually start creating my site.

    Thanks for your advice.

Keyword research is all about analysing your efforts in gaining the number 1 rankings against the return you would make. This is the reason people go for higher search volumes which also tend to be more competitive. If you have tools like Longtail Pro, look for keywords with KC below 20 and you should be able to rank quicker.

There's no set of metrics that make the "perfect" keyword. Whether a keyword with 1,900 or 750 or a different number is good depends on the search term and the value of a customer in that niche - if a customer is worth $10k then 100 searches a month could be good.

It really depends what the keyword is worth. You need to work out how much you can make from top 3 positions (estimate percentage of the traffic you will receive x click through rate on your ads).

then you know how much you can afford to spend to get it ranked. Then look at the competition.

Exactly as david said, Keywords research is depend on what it is worth, for suppose if X keyword have a estimate Exact searches of 2k/month, CPC .50 and top 5 results showing on first page have less backlinks, less PA/DA and so as age then the keyword will be considered as easy competition. 1k is quite good to get traffic but it will depends on what is the current CPC.

    Thanks

Valuable information guys thank you very much!

So the lower the CPC and the higher the Local Search with PA and DA in a reasonable range is where I should start.

Only question left is how do you determine what a customer is worth?
