In fact keywords with amazon and ebay on the first page are usually easier to rank. Get market samurai, they have a free trial and do your competition analysis.

Look for other affiliate sites ranking on the first page. If you see any, you know that it's possible to rank. Copy their onpage, beat them on their off page!

Surest way to find out if you can rank.
Study that website, see how many links/pages it has and when it was created and work on building a more valuable website.

Don't fidget just because Amazon or eBay is occupying the top position.

    Here is a little secret:

They only got there because the sites are authority.

They never built a link for that term.

If you can build up top notch quality link you can easily push them off.

I advise, you analyze the top ten sites for your keyword and see if they are hard to knock out.

Make sure you check out the page that is on the site and not the home page.

Most importantly, your off page job plays a huge role in your overall success.

I usually use LongTail Pro Platinum to look at keyword difficulty. It's just to give a ballpark figure if a keyword is worth pursuing or not.

Keywords for domain authority is very hard to beat, the better you play with long tailed keywords, have a high demand. And minimum competition. The only suggestion I
