Hi guys,

Usually when i have some doubts about anything i brows through BHW hoping i would be able to find answers without asking questions, but now i failed to find those answers (could be that i haven't browsed BHW enough, even tho i spent two days browsing).

I get that long tail keywords monetize much better, since they are more directly related to the topic of the search, and that those mostly have lower competition than two-word or one-word keywords, but, what if there are two-word keywords with over 100k monthly searches in my niche with low competition (according to google), and with high CPC?

Should i still aim for long tail keywords which have anywhere from 1k to 10k monthly searches, low competition and very high CPC (one of them is at $5), or should i mix both.

For example:
two-word keyword: candy shop - 150.000 monthly searches - low competition - CPC $1.50
long-tail keyword: best candy shop - 1500 monthly searches - low competition - CPC $4

(These stats are just example and are not true).

For which keyword should i try to rank more, given that i am aiming to improve visits to the website, and not to sell anything at first. Also, i would be grateful if you could explain why.

Thank you very much!

Interesting question.

Go to BTB's thread here on keyword research and ask there, if it is not already covered.

Are you sure you're not getting that competition confused with advertiser competition... http://www.onlinedimes.com/keyword-competition/

That 100k keyword you found sounds like you are looking at advertiser competition and not keyword competition. But if not I would rank for the 100k one and forget things like adsense you can make waaayyyyy more money with affiliate marketing that keyword with a product.

Damn, it was advertiser competition. The keyword is 47 out of 100 via keyword revealer. Any idea if i should give it a go, or skip? Thank you both for replies!
