How do you guys find out the difficulty of a keyword to rank? I mean i have done alot of reasearch to find good longtail keywords but i dont really know if they are difficult or not to rank how do you guys determine that?

A good way to get started is to use tools like Market Samurai and SEO Spyglass.
Both of them have helpful metrics that you can use to assess keyword difficulty.

It's also worth your time to use a tool like ahrefs to check the backlinks to the
top ten results for your keyword(s). I'm new to SEO too so hopefully someone
else will pitch in with more advice.

hey thank you for your advice but it would be a little more helpful if the tools were free because i am currently broke :D

I mean if the ways to determine the difficulty was free

Keep subscribing to the trials with different email accounts. Also, if you search
the forum in detail, you'll also be able to find ways of getting these tools. One
more thing, you also want Google Webmaster Tools.

I own some premium keyword tools and I dont use any of them now.

My main method is totally free and based around Google Keyword Tool, Firefox and Mozbar. I dont want to go into much more detail as what im doing is highly effective but mess around and experiment and you will develop your own method with it over time.

Linkbuilding with no budget on the other hand is basically impossible in my opinion.

Yes but i was just wondering at the start (as i build my own budget) i could find a basic way to rank some basic keywords with good enough cpc and low difficulty without using those tools

Also tiyowan thank you for your advice!

Shaunm it would be great help if you could share little (not complete) of that method with a newbie like me just to point me in the right direction :)

use moz toolbar to quickly see their backlinks count and then skim through the first 5 pages serp for that keyword, look what kind of site ranking there.. if u fnd many competitor site there then its tough, if its mainly consisting of blogs promoting those on first page then itll be easier to beat them and break into first page tho it may not be easy to break top three/five spot, after that initial screening u can then look into ur potential competitor one by one with free ahrefs/majestic acc

there is a coupon code from namecheap 120days free for moz. get it. use it. It get's really easy after 2-3 days. You will find many easy niches!

I prefer using Market Samurai. The latest version of MS is already there in BHW Download section.

Get it. Use it. Earn from it. Buy it. (Most important ;))

Support the developer. They deserves the $97 in exchange, as they cut down the shit-load of work for tracking competition for the niche your in.

Dear,
Long tail pro is a useful tool for analysing difficulty of keyword ranking. The tool helps you in telling competition, traffic and competitor analytics. With this tool, you will be able to determine the power of your competitor and difficulty severity.

I rely of my experience. If you don't know where to start you could try Traffic Travis.

Thank you guys for all the help really appreciated :)

If you want completely free, use the adwords tool to identify your keywords, then open another tab and input your keyword to see the top 10 pages ranking for it.

Have the moz toolbar installed in firefox, and it will display the PA and DA of each of the ranked pages in the top 10.

If you've got juggernaut sites sitting in the top 5 or top 10 - skip it. If you have some flimsy sites ranking and/or poorly optimized pages - go for it.

Good luck.
