Keyword Difficulty

Hi Guys!

I know this is probably a super nooby question and will never have a completely accurate answer but thought I would just ask ahead!

I'm currently setting up a locksmith business in London (England) and was wondering how achievable it would be to rank for "locksmith" and "locksmiths" keywords for this location. If possible was curious to find out how much it would probably cost me and over what period of time to get to the #1 position.

I understand it's so hard to give a one fits all answer for this sort of thing but I just wanted to make sure I was going down a feasible path that's not going to take me 1 year + or £10,000 or more to get to #1 for these keywords and location!

If you have in mind the keywords you want to rank for you should ask for an evaluation; there are a lot of experts & agencies around.

I have looked for the keyword, it's hard but not imposible. If you target a specific location like "locksmiths london"
or something like that - it would be easier.

I would recommend taliking with @t0mmy for such a "adventure" if you're looking for something legit & long-term.
 
Well it won't take you a year nor 10k but it will take some months and some money. Don't just use any SEO service though because there are many that will fuck up your ranking.

Which city do you live in? I can take a look.
 
I have worked on locksmith (Target Area Dubai) niche. area specific keywords not hard to rank you just need a good strategy
 
If you want to save money need to invest time but if you want to save time and health you need to invest money :D
 
It's going to be tough. Locksmiths are a very competitive industry in the UK digital marketing space. They have one of the highest UK AdWords CPC. My best advice would be to target places outside of London you service first and work on these. If you have the budget then AdWords can be a great tool to drive business especially with call only ads.
 
The keyword is medium (on the lower end) competitiveness. You have londonlocksmith.london on #3 with a DA and PA of 1, yet with a decent site/content (I assume they got some PBN links there) so you really need to outdo at least that site in terms of site quality and on-page optimization - that domain was registered in 2015 so not too old.

You have a1londonlocksmiths.info on page 3, so it gets easier since that site doesn't have much going on - overall, this MIGHT take a year IMO, especially if you don't know what you're doing. However, even if you went and bought the dumbest PBN links money can buy it shouldn't take over $1500 to get to #1, and that's if you have no idea what you're doing.

I was looking at paying someone to do some good on page SEO first and then just running 1-2 of these sort of packages per month (https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/lady-gaga-google-rider-200-quality-links-crack-serp-2018-flat-50-off-massive-reviews.532187/) and was hoping that I could drop maybe $200 per month into those sort of services for 6 months to get me there was my initial thought, but I am a complete noob to this.

Do you guys think that's a good route to go down?

I've took a quick look and actually, locksmith londen and also all variations (north, east,south, west) plus London districts is pretty easy to rank. Before you go with any SEO service, do some research first as there will always be people that come and claim how good they are especially when they read you got money to burn but then fuck it all up for a couple bucks. ;)

If you have the budget then do some PPC alongside of SEO. PPC will get you instant results and hopefully a decent ROI which you can then funnel into SEO.
 
You need a specialist google places local seo service, not just some randoms Web2.0s.
Get your GMB listing sorted etc.

Just to tag onto this OP take a look at this article from Moz which explains local ranking factors. Also this article has a really good local SEO roadmap you can follow. I'd recommend using a service like BrightLocal to build citations each month. Local and niche relevant backlinks are also super important and don't forget reviews!

I thought if I did local SEO though that it might restrict my area if I want to target the whole of London which is not only big in population but actually land size.

I did look at local SEO originally but thought it would only be effective if I was targeting say the borough of London im in for example, and I would need "normal" SEO if I wanted to do the whole of London. Is it correct to think that way or am I talking nonsense? :P

@Callum12345 for the whole london is still local seo.

If i were in your place i would get someone to take care aboutmy on-page seo / write some good articles -guides etc, and then go with local seo.

Don't just buy any seo package as it will not help - take care first of your on-page seo- get some articles to be sure you target the right keywords and after hire someone who can do seo.
 
There are some tools that might help. I might have seen a thread around here somewhere those tools to handle keyword difficulty.
