Hello,

Hello, I'm trying now tro make my own KW calculator, to find low competition keywords with mid-high search volume.

Wondering which parameters are u using search volume/number od results, keywords length, backlins, top10 domains etc.?

I'm making now my own excel calc, maybe somone will share with his way and would improve
my calculations?

Best regards

Sorry - I rely on Google keyword planner - Those are approx values - which is good to take better decisions.

I look at how many domains in the top ten have DR<10. If there are a couple of even more - it`s a strong signal to try this keyword. Also, I would avoid keywords where top 10 results are filled with fat aggregators and fat domains in general (with DR>70).

Monthly search volume it´s just an estimate. I would focus on efforts on the potential traffic each keyword can generate for me.

Also, in regards to keyword difficulty, i don´t rely on KD scores from ANY SEO tool. I prefer doing the work manually, checking the backlink profile quality of each page ranking on the SERP top 10 results and check....
  • Quality
  • Relevancy
This will give me all the necessary information i need in order to determine 1) whether or not i can outrank them and, 2) whether or not i can steal those links (and potentially its traffic).

But if you insist on building this calculator i would focus my keyword difficulty analysis efforts on Moz free ToolBar addon for Chrome and check the Page Authority (PA) of the top 10 ranking pages for that particular keyword, number of links and referring domains.

And depending on where your site is at in relation to these Moz metrics i would focus on those with a PA <15 or, any number you feel comfortable you can outrank without much linkbuilding hassle.

But i would strongly advise you to manually check these metrics.

Hope this helps, cheers!
