Hi guys, Just started learning SEO.

I'm doing keyword research and there's this long tail keyword

which has a KD of 0 on Ahrefs

and a KD of 77.79 on Semrush

Which one should I trust?

Check the SERP result on both and then decide. I think SEMRush will give it a hard score if there is 1 hard page to overtake and everything else is rubbish pages. Might be wrong
Seen a lot of 50-60% difficulty on SEMRush that has 6/10 pages on 0-0-0-0. For this very reason I am thinking to change over to Ahrefs

Those tools are shows data from their won algorithm where they crawling their won way. So, its normal they can show the different data. To get the proper result you need to go manually. Go search your keyword on google get the first 10 url in a excel file and check their, domain age, how many words of content they have the page, how many referring domain they have, how many authority backlinks they have, do you able to get backlinks this kind of authority pages? When you get all the data in a file, now its time to make a decision. Sorry for my bad english.

Neither. The Best KD is your insight.
For bulk purposes, never trust SEMrush for this topic. They have deplorable competence insights.
Stick to Ahrefs. When you cut down to a little list of keywords, then you should go manually.

from my experience using ahrefs, if its already 0 KD it should be really easy, but better to check the SERP too and analys your competitors.

also check the real volume on GKP to get more accurate results.

thanks will look at it

if I can do this manually then what's the point in using these tools. Sorry if I sound combative but I genuinely want to know

Whats GKP

It's hard one to decide , search google and see top 10 results yourself.

Have you try with google keyword planner. The google keyword planner only gives the exact search volume if you run the paid ads on Google AdWords. Otherwise, it will approximate value. So try on that tool to get the value and decide.

You can also get the keyword ideas from keyword planner.

I agree with SirLouen and Mejbahul Alam.
You can't rely only on those metrics. You have to check yourself.

I posted the exact same question some weeks ago.
Someone told me that ahrefs and SEMrush are both good for keyword research. But they have their own measures.
If a keyword sound incredibly easy on AhRefs and totally nightmare on SEMRush, go check yourself the SERP's.

The presence of Instagram pages, Reddit topic and forums in the SERP's indicate that a keyword would be easier to rank for in my opinion.
If you spot big companies on it, good luck. That may means the market is crowded.

Hope you'll succeed !

Sorry for my bad english !

Don't rely on any tool (for this case :)), look at the SERP and check if there are forums or social networks like Pinterest on the first page, if not, look for sites that have few referring domains.

Just a quick tip. Good luck.
