    Ok team,

What do you feel is the optimal keyword density for any given site?

    1 words %>?
    2 words %>?
    3 words %>?

What is a good density checker?

Do you include title, description, keywords & Alt content to come up with the overall percent?

Should you exclude certain words when figuring the %?

Let's see what we all come up with ;)

Most optimizers are agree that the optimal keyword density should be 4 to 6%. A little more, a little less - does not matter.

I use about 5% in my articles. It seems to be working really well so I'll stick with it.

Well, keyword density is issue of past... Now, what more important is organic placement of the keyword. If your content demands the occurrence of keyword, place it... But do not stuff it unnecessarily.

I use this tool to check:

    http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword-density/

I don't like to see anything higher than 4% for a single word (not including stop words). I've definitely seen penalties if my percentage goes too high and those seem to be lifted when I go back through and remove keywords.

Keyword density is very much alive as an SEO metric, it is just the opposite of what it used to be.

    I agree with LBrown...

Over optimisation is easier to trip with too heavy a use of a keyword. Keyword optimisation is an easy fingerprint for Google to watch with matching anchors/title tags/h1 tags and keyword stuffing.

My best ranked pages have very low keyword density, and I now use it as a control - rather than a target - if that makes sense!
